Who Is Techie Tom?

The “Techie Tom” concept was based on young Tom Mullender, our Technical Support Engineer here at groupgear. Tom joined the company in 2016 as a technical apprentice and was thrown into the deep end, supporting the launch of our then new WiFi connekt wall sockets. Since then he has subsequently excelled and is now the go-to man for anything relating to the WiFi connekt. His reviews on Screwfix have become renowned throughout the company, so it was only appropriate that we rewarded his efforts with his own section on our new website. Tom even supported the Screwfix show; he demonstrated his own personable skills and refined his presentation techniques into a fine art. He painstakingly spent over 30 minutes with one particular gentleman, who seemed totally engrossed with his patter, only to discover the gentleman was completely deaf. Completely undeterred, Tom was determined to get his message across and started to write everything down, until eventually the gentleman was joined by his sign language interpreter, at which point Tom repeated his whole sales pitch once again.

Tom is interested in mythology, music, science and anything geeky. He can quite often be found keying in chemical elements.
